Importing your attribution history
Last updated: November 6, 2026
When you switch to the Polar Pixel from another attribution tool, such as Rockerbox, you can bring your historical attribution data into Polar. You then combine it with live Pixel data so your reports don't have a gap.
Before you start
Install the Polar Pixel as early as possible. It doesn't track retroactively. See Using the Polar Pixel: Complete Installation & Tracking Setup Guide.
Keep your old tool running until the Pixel has about two weeks of data, so the two overlap.
Export your historical data
In your current attribution tool, export your full history as a CSV or another structured file.
Choose event-level data if your tool offers it. Transaction-level data also works.
Check that the file includes timestamps, channels, campaigns and revenue.
Export as much history as you can. You can't add older data after your old tool account closes.
Get the data into Polar
Choose the option that fits your data.
Option | How it works |
Google Sheets | Load your export into a Google Sheet and connect it to Polar yourself. Best for exports that fit in a sheet. See Google Sheets and Google Sheets template requirements. |
Large exports, a data warehouse (such as Snowflake or BigQuery), or a direct connection to your old tool (such as Triple Whale) | A custom setup that needs a developer, and not every account qualifies. If you're a customer, contact your account manager or reach us through the in-app chat. If you're evaluating Polar, discuss it with your sales rep. |
Combine historical and live data
Your historical data stays a separate data source in Polar. To see one continuous view, create a custom metric that adds your historical metric to the matching Polar Pixel metric, for example historical attributed revenue plus Pixel attributed revenue.
Pick a cutover date: the day you start relying on the Pixel.
In the custom metric, filter the Pixel metric to dates from the cutover date on, so the overlap isn't counted twice.
If your historical data has several attribution models or windows, filter it to one. Otherwise it double counts.
Name the metric clearly, for example "Revenue (Full Historical)", so your team knows it combines two sources.
Ask Polar can build this metric for you. For example: "Create a custom metric that adds my Rockerbox revenue to Polar Pixel revenue, counting Pixel revenue only from March 1 on."
Your old tool may define revenue differently, for example including tax and shipping, so historical and Pixel numbers won't line up exactly.
FAQs
Which attribution tools can I migrate from?
Any tool that can export your data as a CSV or another structured file.
Will my historical data use Polar's attribution models?
No. Historical data keeps the attribution your old tool applied. Polar's models only apply to journeys the Pixel tracked. See Understanding Attribution Models.
